Funeral services for Peter Thiessen, age 68 of Seminole were Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Colony Mennonite Church with Bishop Jacob Giesbrecht officiating. Burial followed at Gaines County Cemetery. All services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

To finish out July, there will be a series of articles about what we can look forward to in the coming school sports year. With the 2021-22 season reviewed and put to bed, now we can look forward to what our sports teams have before them. While some things have changed in people graduating, old coaches leaving and new coaches coming in and UIL realignment – other things have not changed. There will be plenty of familiar faces coming back – both players and coaches. Some teams will be rebuilding and others will be reloading.

Rodeo awards $1.4 million in scholarships to Texas FFA Students

Zoee Nolen of Seminole was among eventy Texas FFA members representing 58 FFA chapters from across Texas presented with $1.4 million in scholarships from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo during the 94th Annual Texas FFA State Convention in Fort Worth, Texas, on Wednesday, July 13.

MONEY THE HARD WAY Wyatt Baker The 2022 Gaines County Rodeo, hosted by the Gaines County Riding Club, was an overwhelming success July 15-16, with over 3,000 attendees. It was also a perfect night for Wyatt Baker, who won $1,000 in Money the Hard Way.
