After a brief hiatus, Gaines County Riding Club president Butch Williams is back in the saddle again. Vice President Anthony Easley presided over the rodeo for Williams last year, but the former bull rider and rodeo guru is back and better than ever, once again proving that you can’t keep a good man down.

In a short meeting Wednesday, July 6, the Gaines County Commissioners approved a bid for additional fencing for Lytle Field and the purchase of gift cards for Character Camp scheduled for July 12-14. The regular meeting was followed by a budget workshop and an executive session to discuss proposed changes to the Gaines County Subdivision and Manufactured Home Rental Community regulations.

Biden Targets Permian Basin Oil Despite Joe Biden’s insistence that his administration is “working like the devil” to lower gas prices by increasing production of domestic oil and gas, increasing refining, and ramping up exports of liquefied natural gas to Europe, his agencies continue to hold up permitting and issue restrictive new regulations. Does he really believe that no one notices that his crusade to end domestic production has continued unabated? Three people were arrested last week by federal authorities in connection with a human smuggling incident that left 53 migrants dead. The migrants were discovered inside a tractortrailer on San Antonio’s Southwest Side, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
