Seagraves Mother takes stand against Drunk Driving

Seagraves resident Kendra Sellers has a vested interest in the upcoming MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Walk in Lubbock on August 6 and for a good reason. Her son Case Clark, 22 years old at the time of the accident, was killed by a drunk driver on March 11, 2022. The annual event is used to raise awareness in an effort to end drunk driving.

Parents urged to register children for Seminole Strong giveaways

It's time again for the 4th annual Seminole Strong event at the City Park. Charlie Johnson, the pastor of First United Methodist Church and a leader in the city's Ministerial Alliance, said this year Seminole Strong is committed to giving away 500 backpacks equipped with school supplies and shoe vouchers. "We wanted to step it up a notch this year." The event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 10, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The entire community is invited for free.

Gaines Farmers say 2022 produced worst crop ever

With much of Gaines County experiencing exceptional drought, 41.45 percent, many local farmers and ranchers are counting their losses. A local farmer told the Sentinel that due to the lack of rain, the extreme heat, and excessive wind, he lost 95 percent of the 7,500 acres of cotton he planted in May. According to Drought.gov, conditions are not expected to improve any time soon.

Hospital Trauma Program Gets High Marks from State

The board of directors for the Seminole Hospital District held an abbreviated meeting Monday in the hospital boardroom. Chief Clinical Operations Officer Maegen Garner gave the board an update on a recent state survey of the hospital's trauma program. The survey is required every three years for the facility to maintain its trauma certification.
