The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee in late June approved a bill authorizing the U.S. Department of Agriculture to mandate minimum levels of cash trading in cattle markets amid opposition from lawmakers and industry groups.
For the past 15 years, the Gaines County Library System has required any adult wishing to register for a library card to provide a valid photo ID; additionally, they also had to be a resident of Gaines County and a U.S. citizen. In Wednesday's Gaines County Commissioners Court, librarian Sabra Hall asked that those regulations be changed.
With Freedom Fest '22 right around the corner, I have decided that I'm going to step out of my comfort zone and enter the pie contest. Mind you, this will be my first baking contest ever, and I'm not quite sure why I am doing it. I do know, however, that I am not counting on leaving Gaines County Park with a check. Motorists intent on turning onto side streets off of 11th will welcome the new turning lanes provided by the City of Seminole last week. During the Wednesday meeting of the Gaines County Commissioners Court, Judge Tom Keyes and the commissioners discussed options for providing indigent defense in the 106th District Court for Gaines County due to Artie Aguilar's recent termination of his contract. Aguilar has served as an indigent defense attorney in Gaines County and three other counties for the past 20 years.
