The Andrews baseball team had a two-run lead, thanks to a hanging breaking ball, and Seminole head coach Chris Gonzales waited for his team’s response. He didn’t have to wait long.

LUBBOCK-- The Seminole boy’s and girl’s track teams each will have someone to cheer at the UIL Class 4A State Track and Field Championships. Landry Reames and Ava Olivas both qualified for the annual event at Mike A.

LUBBOCK-- The Seminole girl’s golf team booked its return trip to Kingsland. Carding rounds of 313-324—637, the Maidens finished third at the Regional I-4A Championships on April 17-18 at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock.

PECOS-- The crowning moment came a game later than the Seminole baseball team had hoped for … but it did happen. Obed Reyes, Bryan Hernandez and Stephen Davis all drove in two runs to lead the Indians to a 9-7 victory in District 3-4A action on Friday.

The Seminole softball team gets its postseason run underway this week. Seminole will face Dumas in a best-of-3 bi-district matchup beginning Friday at Plainview High School.

LEVELLAND-- There are going to be plenty of area athletes at the UIL Class 1A State Track and Field Championships. Both the Loop girl’s track team and the Seagraves boy’s squad will be represented at Mike A.

It wasn’t the way the Seminole softball team wanted the regular season to end, but the Maidens had already done the hard work. Now, they just needed a little help from a longtime rival.

The Seminole baseball team made its game against Monahans a little more exciting than it needed to on Tuesday. Leading comfortably after five innings, the Indians watched the vis-iting Loboes score once in the sixth inning and once in the seventh to pull within three runs.

The District 3-4A Tennis Tournament is undergoing a schedule change. Originally scheduled for April 24 and 25, Coach John Armstrong’s team now will compete over a three-day period.

ANDREWS-- The closer athletes get to qualifying for the UIL State Track and Field Championships, the closer the competition becomes. Friday at the District 3-4 4A Area Championships, several Indians and Maidens battled through to take the next step.
