Hobbs Police to Hold DWI Checkpoints

The Hobbs Police Department will conduct DWI Checkpoints and Saturation Patrols throughout the months of September and October of 2022. These checkpoints and saturation patrols will be conducted at undisclosed locations in an effort to locate persons operating motor vehicles under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs. Cooperation from the public is appreciated.

Heifer Tags Needed for Validation

To show heifers in the spring at any major stock show, you must order validation tags. Please contact your FFA supervisor or your County Extension Agent by Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.

Mule Deer Antler Restriction Expansion

After a four-year experiment in seven counties in the Panhandle, the Texas Parks & Wildife Department has expanded the mule deer antler restrictions into 21 new counties, totaling 28 counties in the Panhandle. These include the original seven counties in the experimental area, and the 15 counties in the southwest Panhandle where the season was expanded from 9 to 16 days.

Swine Validation Needed

To show swine (including breeding) at any major Stock Show or at the County Livestock Show, you must order validation tags. Please contact your FFA supervisor or your County Extension Agent by Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. with your State and County Tag Order. State validation tags will cost $15 each. County tags are $4.00 each. All orders must be paid for at that time. If you have questions, please call your FFA advisor or the County Extension Office at (432)758-4006.

USDA to Mail Additional Pre-Filled Applications to Producers Impacted by 2020, 2021 Disasters

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced another installment (phase) in assistance to commodity and specialty crop producers impacted by natural disaster events in 2020 and 2021. More than 18,000 producers will soon receive new or updated pre-filled disaster applications to offset eligible crop losses. Approximately $6.4 billion has already been distributed to 165,000 producers through USDA’s Farm Service Agency’s (FSA) Emergency Relief Program (ERP).

DPS to increase number of patrol troopers
