Dear Editor,

This is Dixie J. Lentz and I own the Real Estate Place, Inc. here in Seminole. I was contacted by the Chamber of Commerce about sponsoring a movie at the Splash Pad. My office likes to be involved in the community, so I called Danielle Sims for more information. When she shared more about movie night, I asked her if we could bring frozen popsicles since it would be extremely hot in the evening. She allowed us to do that, so we bought about 300 popsicles and also decided glow stick necklaces and bracelets would be fun in the dark, so we did that as well.

I was so impressed with the entire evening. Danielle Sims, her dad Tim Sage and mother Judy Sage, along with their staff had everything organized and ready for hundreds of children, parents and even grandparents. We arrived about 30 minutes early and there was already a line waiting. We walked down the line and offered toddlers, children, teenagers and adults something cold to start their evening.

When the gates opened, we walked around inside and mingled with the crowd and passed out the glow sticks. Families were eating Domino’s pizza and items from the snack bar...just enjoying each other!

It was a family activity that we need to do more often. It helps families remain close and develop relationships and memories through the teenage years and beyond.

Thank you, City of Seminole, Danielle Sims, Tim and Judy Sage and staff for putting this on. My husband Gary, Nathaniel Thiessen and dear friend Joyce Dow, stayed out in the hot summer evening to bless children, and as it turned out we were the ones who were blessed.
