Funeral services for Elaine Haralson, age 61 of Seminole were held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.at First Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Doctor Jim Miles officiating. Burial followed in Gaines County Cemetery. All services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home. Elaine Haralson was born in Snyder on August 5, 1961 to Mary Anne and Henry Lowery. She was raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during the school years and spent her summers on the farm in Kress. She graduated from LD Bell High School in Hurst in 1979 and attended Texas Tech University. She was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While at university she met the love of her life, Dennis Haralson, and they were married shortly after graduation on February 11, 1984.

Elaine and Dennis started their married life in Seminole. Elaine began teaching second grade and completed her Master’s Degree in Education. In 1990, their family grew when Elaine gave birth to a baby boy, Hunter. Elaine left teaching to stay home with Hunter, and in 1992 baby Hillary joined the family. Elaine returned to teaching a few years later and began working at the local alternative school, The Success Center. After teaching history and English for 26 years, she retired in 2017 and joined her husband at Moore-Haralson Agency, where she excelled at human resources, office management, and bookkeeping.

Elaine was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Seminole, where she taught Sunday School and assisted with the youth ministry. She was famous for her children’s sermons all over West Texas, as she accompanied Dennis as a lay pastor.

While very cultured, attempting to speak Italian, French and German all at once, she never strayed far from her hometown roots. She loved to travel, especially internationally, and she loved shopping, exercising at home or the fitness center, and a good mocha.

Children brought Elaine so much joy during her life, whether through her career, her church, or in her own family. She touched many lives as an educator and enjoyed hearing from former students and the paths their lives had taken. She especially loved her family and enjoyed traveling to visit her children, grandchild, and grand-dogs.

Mary Elaine Haralson entered into God’s kingdom on June 19, 2023 at her residence.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Haralson of Seminole; one son, Hunter Haralson (fiancée Kerilee) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Hillary Whitaker (husband Jay) of Centennial, Colorado; her mother, Mary Anne Chance of Bedford; her father, Henry Lowery (wife Louise) of Kress; her mother- and father-in-law, Nancy and Carroll Haralson of Seminole; one sister, Janet Chaffin (husband Bob) of Guthrie, Oklahoma; and one grandson, Archer Whitaker of Centennial, Colorado.
