Waymon Dale Jones

Waymon Dale Jones, age 81 of Seminole left this earth to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12, 2021. Private cryptside services will be held at a later date. All services will be under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Waymon was born in Lamesa on February 22, 1940, the son of Ethyl Mae (Booe) and Jesse Clyde Jones. His family moved to Seminole shortly after his birth, where he remained a lifelong resident. Waymon graduated high school in Seminole and married Pauline Smith on August 6, 1960 at South Seminole Baptist Church. He worked in the oilfield as a truck coordinator for 16 years, beginning with Amoco who eventually sold to B.P.

Waymon loved his family, and was very proud of his children and his grandchildren. He and Pauline often took their grandchildren on trips with them to a variety of locations. He was an avid hunter, and he loved guns. Being an amateur gunsmith, he enjoyed working with his hands and could fix nearly anything. He also enjoyed fishing and anything to do with the outdoors, traits which he passed on to his son as well as his grandsons.

Waymon Jones is preceded in death by his parents and by one son, Brian, in 2014.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Pauline; two daughters, Vondie Howell and Jennifer Jackson and husband Coke, both of Lubbock; two brothers, Bill Jones of Big Spring and Melvin Jones of Fort Davis; five grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, Raegan, Ruger, and Gatlin; and two great-grandchildren, twin boys Carson and Carter Howell.

The family would like to say a special, heartfelt thank you to Interim Hospice, and especially to Sheila, Amber, Amy, Gina, Dawn, Jessica, Detra, and Susan. The compassion, kindness, and assistance that was shown to Waymon and Pauline was both amazing and appreciated.
