SPPHD Reports Tenth COVID-19 Death in Gaines County

A tenth death due to COVID-19 has been confirmed in Gaines County by the South Plains Public Health Department. Also, new positive daily cases topped out at 29 on Tuesday, Nov.10. Currently in Gaines County, as of press time of Nov. 13, there have been 752 cases since the outbreak in March. A total of 284 remain active and 458 have recovered.

According to the Seminole ISD dashboard, the following cases have been reported since Monday, Nov. 9:

• On Monday, November 9, Seminole High School Administration was notified that three students tested positive for COVID-19. Seminole High School Nursing Staff is working in conjunction with local health officials to conduct contact tracing and will reach out privately to any impacted students, their families, and staff.

• On Monday, November 9, Seminole High School Administration was notified that two employees tested positive for COVID-19. Seminole High School Nursing Staff is working in conjunction with local health officials to conduct contact tracing and will reach out privately to any impacted students, their families, and staff.

• On Monday, November 9, Seminole Junior High School Administration was notified that an eighth grade student and a teacher tested positive for COVID-19. The student developed symptoms Monday and did not attend school. The teacher developed symptoms Friday night while at home, performed a rapid test that came back positive and did not come to work on Monday.

• On Tuesday, November 10, Primary administration was notified that a thirdgrade student tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, November 6. That student did not experience symptoms but tested due to close contact. The student has been quarantined since November 5 and was last on campus on Thursday, November 4.

• On Tuesday, November 10, Seminole High School Administration was notified that eight students tested positive for COVID-19. Seminole High School Nursing Staff is working in conjunction with local health officials to conduct contact tracing and will reach out privately to any impacted students, their families, and staff

• On Tuesday, November 10, Seminole ISD Administration was notified that an employee at the Administration Building tested positive for COVID-19. Seminole ISD Administration is working in conjunction with local health officials to conduct contact tracing and have reached out privately to any impacted families and staff. The SISD Operations Department has thoroughly disinfected all areas of the Seminole ISD Administration Building.

• On Wednesday, November 11, Seminole High School Administration was notified that two employees tested positive for COVID-19. Seminole High School Nursing Staff is working in conjunction with local health officials to conduct contact tracing and will reach out privately to any impacted students, their families, and staff.
