Olan Farrell "Butch" Herring

A private family memorial service for Olan Farrell “Butch” Herring, age 85 of Seminole was held Saturday, June 22, 2019. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in Amarillo or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Mr. Herring was born on September 15, 1933 in Brownfield

to Alta (Boyer) and Olan Herring. He married Wynoka Tucker in Lovington, New Mexico on March 21, 1957. Butch moved to Seminole from Brownfield 51 years ago in January 1968. He bought and farmed land in western Gaines County and was fairly active in the county affairs. He served three years on the F.H.A. county committee and served on the Gaines County Livestock Show for several years. Additionally he served on the Seminole City Board of Adjustment for three years.

Butch Herring passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at his home in Seminole following a lengthy battle with heart failure.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Olan and Alta Herring; one sister, Ardeth Swain of Brownfield; and one brother, Rodney Herring of Amarillo.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of sixty-two years, Wynoka Herring of Seminole; one son, Tommy Farrell Herring of Ruidoso, New Mexico; one daughter, Ginger Lynn Peters of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one sister, Lavita Booth of Brownfield ;three grandchildren, Mary Catherine Adam and her daughter Chloe Adam, Jessie Rae Herring and her daughter Tommi Christine Hale of Midland and Angela Marie Chin and-husband Jonathon and their son Ethan of Plano.
