Masks Required in County Buildings

Wednesday, November 25, 2020

With the rapid rise in the number of COVID cases in Gaines County, Judge Tom Keyes and the county commissioners voted unanimously in their meeting on Tuesday to mandate wearing masks in all county buildings.

“Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 25, masks will be required in all Gaines County buildings,” Judge Keyes announced at the close of the Commissioners Court on Tuesday. He explained that anyone in a county building must wear a mask unless social distancing. County employees are required to do the same when talking to a citizen in the building.

Judge Keyes added it would be difficult to enforce the mandate if employees are not abiding by the rules. “Anyone who refuses to put on a mask when asked to do so will have to leave the building. If they don’t leave, we will call law enforcement,” the judge said.
