Funeral services for Leonard Atwood, Sr. age 91 of Hobbs, New Mexico and formerly of Seminole were held Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at South Seminole Baptist Church with Pastor Buck Wheat officiating. Burial followed at Gaines

County Cemetery. All services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.

Mr. Atwood was born November 17, 1927 in Silsbee to Lettie (Maxwell) and William Henry Atwood. He married Jeannine Thompson on July 10, 1946 in Beaumont. Leonard served his country in the United States Army from November 1945 to December 1946. He was a Baptist and worked

as a lineman for Southwestern Public Service. He enjoyed watching and racing cars and even ran the Plainview race track; he also enjoyed woodworking, leather working, and taught some leather classes. Leonard Atwood loved family gatherings and church activities. His family was always dear to his heart.

Leonard Atwood, Sr. passed away at Desert Gardens Assisted Living in Hobbs, New Mexico on June 9, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sons

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Atwood of Hobbs, New Mexico; two sons, Leonard Atwood, Jr. and wife Cecilia of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Robert Atwood and wife Twyla of Carlsbad, New Mexico; one daughter, Ginger Holland of Lin-dale, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
