Leila Jo Rixon Wolfe

Leila Jo Rixon Wolfe, 57, passed away at home on June 17, 2021. She was born January 17, 1964, to William Peter Rixon and Lola Jean Oller Rixon in LaCrosse, KS.

She married Charles Gary Wolfe on July 11, 1987, in Seminole. Together, they had two children, Kristina Marie and Charles Benjamin.

Leila loved being a mom. She was often the “room mom” at school functions and spent countless hours taking her kids to their dance classes and sporting events. She was the best “YaYa” and “Madre” to her grandkids – always spoiling them rotten.

She was a creative, artistic woman. She continually had a project in the works. She was a master florist and created beautiful arrangements. Christmases and birthdays were always elaborate celebrations, with beautiful decorations and far too many gifts.

She spoke with fondness about her early childhood and many summers spent on the farm in Kansas with her grandparents. She preferred helping her dad in the field over spending time doing “girly” things. She considered herself a rebel, often going against the grain of society’s norms. She preferred not, to be like everyone else, and lived life her way.

She is preceded in death by her father, Pete Rixon and in-laws, James and Verda Wolfe.

She is survived by her mother, Lola Rixon of Abilene; husband, Gary Wolfe of Lubbock; daughter, Krissi of Lubbock; son, Ben and daughter-inlaw, Lexie of Woodward, OK; four grandchildren, Olivia, Nik, Izzy, and Sophia; a sister, Sara Rixon Dodd of Abilene, as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 25 at Combest Family Funeral Home at 2210 Broadway in Lubbock.

In lieu of flowers, our family would be honored if you would donate to a charity of your choice in memory of Leila.
