Jerry L. LeGard

Jerry L. LeGard passed away peacefully February 3, 2021 at Silversage Assisted Living in Brenham, surrounded by family.

He was born September 21, 1937 in Anderson County to Colley and Sara LeGard. Dad was raised on the farm and learned many life lessons there. Jerry accepted Christ as his Lord and savior at a young age. He married the love of his life Marsha Ann Rampy on January 10, 1957.

He had a love for flying airplanes and was a proficient pilot. He could set an airplane down so smoothly that you never knew that you had touched the ground. He loved to restore all types of vehicles, cars, tractors and airplanes. He was a very successful businessman and owned and operated several oil field related companies, starting in 1965 with Jerry LeGard Well Service and later bought Bonner Lease Service, both in Seminole. Later they moved back to the farm where they thought they would retire, but ultimately bought into A&L Hot Oil Service and relocated to Brenham. He spearheaded the expansion of the Brenham Municipal Airport bringing in businesses which included a very hopping 50's style dinner known throughout the aviation community as a great place to fly in to eat ($500.00) burger.

Jerry and Marsha's passion was fishing for bass at Lake Novia, Mexico and made many lifelong friends from both the American and Mexican communities.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marsha Rampy LeGard of 61 years, his brother Bob LeGard, parents Colley and Sara LeGard, and grandson Adam Lawrence LeGard.

He is survived by his children, daughter Jerri Ann and husband Rickey Smith, son Stanly Adam LeGard, brother Larry LeGard and wife Carla, three grandchildren, Danya Bueno and husband Carlos, Jeremy Buckley and wife Lauren, Kristen Watkins and husband Mark, eight great-grandchildren Sarah, Caleb, and Anah Bueno, Kaden, Jackson and Lukas Buckley and Hadley and Emmie Underwood.

Graveside services were held in Palestine on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
