Farrell Dean Whitfield

Funeral services for Farrell Dean Whitfield, 88, of Seminole were conducted Friday, March 22, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Glenn Beaver officiating, assisted by Rev. Joe Laupsan. Interment followed in the Gaines County Cemetery with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole. He passed away Monday, March 18 in Seminole.

Dean was born March 19, 1930 in Ada, Oklahoma to Floyd and May Belle Jetton Whitfield. Dean and Lanora Donaghue were married June 15, 1950 in Seagraves. He served in the United States Army from 1952 – 1954, stationed in Germany for 17 months. They moved to Seminole in March 1959; he retired from the oilfield and was later employed by SISD for seven years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Estelle Whitfield, also two brothers and two sisters.

Dean is survived by his wife Lanora Whitfield of Seminole; a son Darrell Whitfield and wife Karen of Seminole; a daughter La Dean Box and husband Richard of Seminole; four brothers Frankie Whitfield of Throckmorton, Horace Whitfield of Escanoba, Michigan, Doyle Whitfield of Throckmorton, and James Whitfieldof Midlothian; one sister Flonell Pritchard of Hobbs; an aunt Laverne Sargent of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; along with four granddaughters Gwen McCown, Kayla Minchew, Lacey Murga, and Kagan Box; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Teen Challenge in Midland or the First Assembly of God Church of Seminole.
