COVID-19 Update

Since reporting a second case of COVID-19 at a Seminole supermarket last week, little has changed in the progression of the virus in Gaines County. With one recovery from the virus, an investigation into the Porter's case (male, 50-59 years old) continues. There is as yet no evidence to date of any connection between the Seminole case and those earlier cases reported at the Porter's store in Andrews.

Currently, 192 of Texas' 254 counties have reported at least one case of COVID-19 infection, for a total of 17,371. An estimated 4,190 have recovered officially in Texas, though it is likely that many Texans may have been exposed to the virus, while remaining asymptomatic, or have suffered mild symptoms that were not reported. The Texas Department of Health and Human Services has reported 428 coronavirusrelated fatalities in the state.

In neighboring counties, the number of confirmed cases have continued to rise, with new cases reported in Andrews County bringing the total to 19 at this writing. Terry County remains at 10, Dawson County at 12, and Hockley County at 15, while the total in Lubbock County has risen to 367, up by 94 from a week ago.

Since these numbers were last reported in the Sentinel, Ector and Midland Counties have both gained additional cases each, up to 55 and 41, respectively. To date, Yoakum County has yet to report any cases.
