COVID-19, Seventh Case in Gaines County

The South Plains Public Health District has confirmed the seventh case of Covid-19 in Gaines County. According to the SPPH Executive Director Zach Holbrooks, the prior six cases have recovered and their investigations are complete.

At this time, the source of exposure for the most recent case is believed to have occurred outside of Gaines County. The SPPHD will continue monitoring individuals as indicated by the CDC and will continue working diligently to ensure the public remains at a low risk of contracting Covid-19.

Proper hygiene and social distancing practices continue to be recommended.

There were six cases confirmed in Gaines County between March 27- May 18 ranging from ages 19 to 99, two males and four females. The seventh case, confirmed on May 26, is still under investigation.
