COVID-19 cases seeing decline in numbers

After a somewhat rocky August, positive COVID-19 cases in Gaines County appear to be on a downslide. Of the 264 cases reported, only 35 remain active at this time.

As of press time on Friday, two new cases were confirmed, 223 have recovered, and there have been six deaths in Gaines County. Dawson County’s total had seven new cases confirmed, two new cases were added to Terry County’s total, Yoakum County had no new cases, and Lynn County reported one.

Active cases in the South Plains Public Health District are as follows: Dawson, 80; Terry,17; Yoakum, 29; and Lynn County, 8. Of the 237 cases in Dawson County, 154 have recovered. Terry County had 209 total cases with 190 recoveries and Yoakum County reports 131 recoveries of their 163 cases. Lynn County’s total is at 83, with 72 of those recovered.
