Funeral services for Billy D. Coats, 81 of Lubbock were held, Friday, October 15, 2021 at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Joe Lapusan officiating, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.

Billy passed away October 12, 2021 in Gaines County.

He was born July 17, 1940 in Lamesa to Lloyd and Nannie Mae Coats. Billy graduated from Seminole High School and served in the U.S Army. He began his career in the oilfield with Harrison Well Service in Denver City and worked there for several years. He worked for Baker Hughes as a Down Hole Tool Specialist for 20 years. He also drove for Werner Trucking for 12 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Barbara Jackson and Gayla Burton.

Billy is survived by a son Kevin Coats and wife Sunny of Seminole; daughter Kendra Anderson and husband David of Seminole; brother Lloyd Coats of Quanah; sister Beverly Cox and husband Rick of Lubbock and six grandchildren Ryan Anderson and wife Caylynn, Kaleb Anderson, Karson Coats, Taylor Jaquez, Morgan Fehr and husband Johnny, Logan Jaquez and one great-grandson Emmett Fehr.

He was a “Ford Man” and a Nascar enthusiast. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
