Three graduates of the Permian Basin Law Enforcement Academy were sworn into the Seminole Police Department by Chief Bernie Kraft following the 109th Basic Peace Officer Session at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena on June 9. Joining the police force are Edwin U. Avila, age 21 from Hobbs, NM; 25-year-old Stefany Moriel of Seminole, and Manuel Escamilla, age 24, of Phoenix, AZ. Officer Avila was pinned by his father Jose L. Avila, Officer Moriel's honors were done by her dad Antonio Moriel, and pinning Officer Escamilla was his father, Rodolfo Escamilla. Also completing the Permian Basin Law Enforcement Academy and receiving her diploma on June 9 was Savannah Pinson. Pinson was sworn in as a deputy with the Gaines County Sheriff's Office on June 13 by Sheriff Ronny Pipkin. She was pinned by her father, Wayne Pinson. (Sentinel photo)
