Democratic and Republican Party Primary runoff elections are set for Tues., May 24 at the Gaines County Civic Building, the Seagraves Community Building, the Loop Community Building and the Community Building in Higginbotham. Prior to the election, however, Gaines County residents can cast their votes early beginning Mon., May 16. Early voting ends on Fri., May 20.

Commissioners discuss baseball, unsigned hangar lease agreements

Many items were on the agenda for the Wednesday, May 11 meeting of the Gaines County Commissioners Court. Still, the first order of business, or request, came from a member in the crowded courtroom to form an adult baseball league. Other important topics included refurbishing Indio Field, a request by Resound to provide broadband, a temporary "cart path only" ruling at the golf course, an interlocal IT agreement, and renters failing to sign lease agreements at the airport.

Three Hobbs residents charged with burglary in Seminole

Jennifer Rodriguez (age 29), Esteban Maldonado (age 27), and Maxwell Gladden (age 26), all of Hobbs, NM, were arrested in Seminole on May 10 and charged with burglary of a habitation and burglary of a building and transported to the Gaines County Jail. In addition to the burglary charge, Gladden was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG1, evading arrest or detention, and possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
