The South Plains Public Health District has confirmed the sixth case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Gaines County. This newest case, reported on May 18, came from a female between the ages of 50-59. At this time, the source of exposure is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.In Gaines County, the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed on March 27, a woman between the ages of 30-39. The second case was on April 1 and was a male between 50 and 59 years old. A May 4 case (identified as case #3) was a female between the age of 90-99. On May 7, another female, confirmed case number four, was under the age of 20. Case number five was a male between the ages of 30-39. All investigations, except for case number six, are complete.
