The City of Seminole has surpassed the $1.3 million mark for sales tax allocations received from the Texas Comptroller's Office for the 2012 calender year, according to the latest monthly figures released by the state office on Wednesday.
Through October's allocation payment, which reflected local sales transactions during the month of August, the City of Seminole has received $1,350,348.49 in allocation payments from the Texas Comptroller's Office, which is up 24.83-percent from one year ago.
Through October 2011, the City of Seminole had just broke the million dollar mark, having received $1,080,385.45, according to Comptroller figures.
Texas Comptroller Susan Combs announced Wednesday that state sales tax revenue in September was $1.96 billion, up 11.6 percent compared to September 2011.
"Continued strength in the manufacturing and oil and natural gas sectors led to the sales tax revenue increase,” Combs said. "Collections were also boosted by improvement in consumer spending at restaurants and retail stores. State sales tax revenue has now increased for 30 straight months."
Combs was anticipated to send October local sales tax allocations totaling $551 million to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts. October local sales tax allocations are up 9.1 percent compared to October 2011.
For the month of October 2012, the City of Seminole received an allocation payment of $144,109.55, which was up 20.83-percent from October 2011's allocation payment of $119,259.41.
The City of Seagraves, however, continues to see a downward trend in their sales tax allocation payments.
According to Comptroller payments, the City of Seagraves received a payment of $19,805.78 for the month of October 2012, which was down 0.44-percent from October 2011's October payment of $19.893.95.
Year-to-date, the City of Seagraves has received $199,550.51 in allocation payments through October 2012, which was down 19.03-percent from October 2011's year-to-date total of $246,451.97.
