Martha Houchin

Funeral services for Martha Houchin, age 84 of Seminole were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Seminole, with Pastor Ned Nugent officiating.  Burial followed in Gaines County Cemetery.  All services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.  Family visitation was held Monday evening, October 1, 2012 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Television Ministry.
Mrs. Houchin passed away September 28, 2012 at her home in Seminole following a lengthy illness.  She was born December 5, 1927 to Brucilla (Duke) and Bruce Samuel in Windom. She married Raymond Houchin on May 28, 1949 in Lubbock and had been a resident of Seminole for the past forty years.
Mrs. Houchin loved and was loved by everyone she knew.  She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for every family member, even for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved flowers and birds, and, having quite the green thumb, enjoyed gardening.  She always made it a point to learn something special about every family member.  She loved her family very dearly, and kept an immaculate home.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, one of whom was B.W. Samuel, who was lost at sea during WW II and by two sisters.
 Martha Houchin is survived by her husband, Rayburn Houchin of Seminole; one son, Phillip R. Houchin and wife Gerry Anne of Lubbock; two daughters, Gail McCloud and husband Steve of Seminole and Roxann Allen and husband Jack of Bryan; one brother, Fred Samuel and wife Vera Lynn of Greenville; three sisters, Brucie York and husband Gerald of Corsicana, Jean Logsdon of Greenville and Fayra Bankston of Ladonia; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
