FORT STOCKTON -- The Seminole Maiden varsity golf team brought home some hardware this past weekend, as they finished third in the team standings at the 2014 Fort Stockton Girls Golf Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at Desert Pines Golf Course.


Seminole, as a team, finished with a two-day team total of 709, which was 32 strokes behind tournament champion Sonora.


Monahans' A squad finished second with a 36-hole team score of 690.


Individually, Seminole's Ellen Wiebe and Janet Froese finished in the top ten of the tournament's individual standings. Wiebe, who finished with an 86-85--171, tied for fifth overall while teammate Janet Froese carded a 36-hole score of 91-85--176 to finish tied for ninth.
