The Seminole Indians are readying to begin a new Season of football.  Fans are excited, the kids are excited.  The media is poised for an exciting year.  I think I may have felt a little nip in the air.  It must be time for some football!

Coach Kent Jackson is fired up to start his first year as Head Coach and Boy's Athletic Director for the Seminole Indians.  This comes after he spent most of his school years in Seminole and graduated from Seminole High in 1982.  As a lineman he contributed to the success of a team which won the district his senior year.

Jackson has been in the coaching field for 28 years, the last 20 years as a head coach.  He has had a very successful coaching record.  It has been his wish for some time to coach the Seminole Indians and this year he gets his wish.

He begins his tenure here with a mostly new coaching staff, (new to Seminole), with Mike Browning, Tom Snethen, Mike Birden and Matt Hawkins as coaches from past years.  Browning, who is the baseball coach, also helps out with football.  He was coaching when Jackson was a player in 1982.

The Indians will also be playing in a new conference this year, (Division 1- 4A).

Although he hasn't seen the team on the field yet, Jackson and his coaching staff are excited about this year's possibilities.  "It is always a shining to start off with a new slate, and you don't get too many of those!"  Said coach Jackson.

It will be up to the boys to show their coaches and fans just what they are made of.  This will truly be Seminole Football.

It all begins this Monday, August 4th.  The boys are to report at 7:00 a.m., for the beginning of two-a-day practices.

Mondays - 8:30 to 10 am and again from 10:30 till noon.

Tuesday afternoon 5:30 to 7:00 and then 7:30 to 9:00.

Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Thursday and Friday and Saturday practice times are the same as Mondays.

This could well be the beginning of something great for Seminole Indian's Football.  Having an alumni for a coach is interesting.  We tried that once before in basketball and wound up winning a State Championship.  Here's wishing our new coaches the same good luck.  Let's all get behind the new coach and his staff and cheer our boys on to new heights this year.  Are you ready for it?
